Dr. Samir Jabbour, MD, MPH,
is an ophthalmologist based at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université
de Montréal (CHUM) and the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). He holds
academic appointments as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the
University of Montreal and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at McGill
University. His clinical expertise spans corneal disorders, external
eye diseases, and refractive surgery, with a focus on advanced
corneal transplant techniques (DMEK, DALK, DSAEK, PKP), limbal stem
cell transplants, keratoconus management, and complex cataract
surgeries.
Dr. Jabbour graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill
University and completed his ophthalmology residency at the
University of Montreal. He then pursued two years of advanced
subspecialty training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive
Surgery at two of the world's leading institutions: the Wilmer Eye
Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland,
and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, United Kingdom. Additionally,
he earned a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University.
His research focuses primarily on ocular surface disease,
keratoconus, and innovations in surgical techniques related to
keratoplasty, cataract, and refractive surgery. Dr. Jabbour’s work
has been published extensively in prestigious medical journals, and
he is a frequent presenter at both national and international
ophthalmology conferences. As the Director of the Cornea Fellowship
Program at CHUM, he plays a pivotal role in training the next
generation of corneal specialists. He also provides valuable
instruction to medical students and ophthalmology residents from both
the University of Montreal and McGill University.
Dr. Jabbour is an active member of the Board of Directors of the
Canadian Ophthalmological Society and has made numerous media
appearances—on television, radio, and in print—raising public
awareness about ophthalmic diseases.
